I know, it's been a long time since I've blogged about Amber, but life has us pretty busy these days!  We had a fantastic Christmas.  Amber and I traveled to Medford to visit my grandparents, sister and best friend.  We had a great weekend!  There weren't any other little kids at Christmas this year, so Amber wasn't as into the present opening as she has been in the past.  She was very content to read books with Grandma Cheryl and watch Dora the Explorer on her new DVD player.

So today, I finally have time.  Here I am sitting at my computer, with a fresh cup of coffee and what's that I hear?  Silence.....almost.  Nothing but the click of the keyboard and the hum of the dryer.  No TV, no Dora the Explorer, and best of all, NO HOLLERING AMBER!  About a half hour ago, I dropped Amber off at SCHOOL!  This week, Amber has begun attending school at the Early Childhood Education classroom at Oak Creek Elementary School here in Lake Oswego.  We are very excited about this change!  Amber has really been doing VERY well in therapy.  And she hasn't been sick since last October.  (knock on wood!)  I decided that now was the perfect time to start the group therapy with Amber.  She will benefit so much at this time from being exposed to her peers.  I really feel like we need to take advantage of the times Amber is well, and give her these opportunities to grow and develop.  That is, afterall, the reason we chose to transplant Amber, to give her every opportunity to experience and enjoy life!

I can honestly say, that I wasn't sure this day would come for Amber.  I am so pleased that it has though.  I now know that the possibilities for Amber are pretty broad, and I'm so proud of her accomplishments.  Especially in light of the challenges she has faced, and will continue to face!  A friend of mine said "At this rate Christy, she'll be in dance class in the fall!"  All I can say to that is, for Amber, less likely things have happened in the past.  I won't be shocked or suprised to see her floating across a dancefloor in the near future!
