In St. Louis, Day 1
So we made it to St. Louis yesterday. Amber did fantastic on the plane ride! She loved listening to her music and reading books. She even took a short little nap. Unfortunately, with all the stuff we have to carry with us on the plane, somehow we have lost Amber's Ipod! This is a huge loss for this trip as Amber is very soothed by her music....I'm sure we'll make due without it though. She'll get another one when we get home...good thing they are inexpensive nowadays!
Amber has become quite the snuggle bug lately, she loves it when she gets to sleep with me. I don't care for it so much. She inches her way as close to me as possible while she's sleeping, and this morning we were sharing the same half of a queen size bed! I took pictures to prove it! The hotel computer doesn't have an SD card slot so I'll have to upload all of our pics when we get home.
This morning Amber had her clinic visit with Donna the nurse transplant coordinator and Dr. Sweet. Both were impressed with how Amber looked and sounded. We all agree that Amber's lungs have actually been the least of her problems this year. After that we checked in at the APC for her sedation tests. It took a couple of hours, but now all the scans are done. We are still waiting for results. I imagine Dr. Sweet will go over them with me tomorrow before her bronch. She woke up from sedation pretty happy and is now playing in the hotel room.
While we were waiting for Amber to wake up, Donna called me to let me know they were able to secure an H1N1 vaccine for Amber. She will have that shot, as well as a Pneumovax tomorrow while she is asleep for her bronch! I'm so happy she's finally getting her vaccine, they are hard to come by!
Tomorrow I will update again after her bronchoscopy. It's raining here in St. Louis....feels like home! Not really sure if we'll venture out and about this evening or not. I didn't rent a car this time, so it's not as easy to get around town! (Much more afordable though!)
