Long overdue....
Submitted by Christy on Thu, 02/04/2010 - 13:51I know, it's been a long time since I've blogged about Amber, but life has us pretty busy these days! We had a fantastic Christmas. Amber and I traveled to Medford to visit my grandparents, sister and best friend. We had a great weekend! There weren't any other little kids at Christmas this year, so Amber wasn't as into the present opening as she has been in the past. She was very content to read books with Grandma Cheryl and watch Dora the Explorer on her new DVD player.
2 Years Post-Transplant
Submitted by Christy on Thu, 12/24/2009 - 22:07I know it's been a while. Life has a way of just rushing by these days. I think when I last blogged, Amber was just beginning to trial feeds and come off TPN. As of today, Amber has been advanced to full feeds for about a month now and has gained back all the weight she lost on TPN!
Updates
Submitted by Christy on Mon, 11/23/2009 - 00:38I know it's been almost a month. I finally got around to posting pics from the St. Louis trip. I'll post a few pics from last week as well. Amber and I went to JC Penney to have our pics taken for Christmas. Amber has made such amazing progress since last year. It's amazing to see how much she's grown! Compared to last years Christmas pic, she's such a little girl now. Last year, she was still a baby.
Updates....
Submitted by Christy on Thu, 11/05/2009 - 13:58So we made it home from St. Louis as planned. I went straight into working the weekend after we got home, and have also worked extra shifts since. The hospital is VERY busy with influenza patients. I've barely had time to get online since we've been back! I'm actually updating from work today, but I promise to upload new pictures soon.
The results are in...(preliminary anyways...)
Submitted by Christy on Tue, 10/27/2009 - 20:02A0B0! Amber has no rejection! We are cleared to head home on Thursday morning! Amber did fantastic today for her bronch, and also was able to get her H1N1 shot and a pneumovax. Things are looking up. Now we head home on Thursday to start some followup on this pancreas issue.
It's been raining nonstop since we've arrived in St. Louis. I'm going to check the weather for tomorrow and hope it's nice and we can go to the zoo before we leave!
In St. Louis, Day 1
Submitted by Christy on Mon, 10/26/2009 - 17:03So we made it to St. Louis yesterday. Amber did fantastic on the plane ride! She loved listening to her music and reading books. She even took a short little nap. Unfortunately, with all the stuff we have to carry with us on the plane, somehow we have lost Amber's Ipod! This is a huge loss for this trip as Amber is very soothed by her music....I'm sure we'll make due without it though. She'll get another one when we get home...good thing they are inexpensive nowadays!
Here we go again....
Submitted by Christy on Sat, 10/24/2009 - 12:56Day to day, Amber has been doing quite well. She has been well enough to restart PT every other week this past month, and next month will begin weekly speech therapy sessions again.
Doing well....
Submitted by Christy on Thu, 10/08/2009 - 02:09So as you can tell by the pictures, Amber and I had a great time in Medford a few weeks ago. The wedding was fun, and visiting with family and friends was great. Amber was a little overwhelmed by all the action. She had a difficult time sleeping while we were there, but seems to be recovering quite well at home.
