The best news of the year!

I was informed today, that Clackamas County found enough money in their general budget to cover Amber's support funding for this fiscal year! (through 6/2011)  They will cover all established crisis diversion funding recipients (this is Amber) but will not be able to offer assistance to new patients.  This information makes my year....really.

KATU News

The video and story from the other day is on katu.com.  Just click on the Politics section and you can view the report!  While the content may not be quite what I had in mind....it's still video of Amber and as far as I'm concerned, you can't beat that!

I tried....

Well, despite my hesitation regarding the heat today, we packed up and drove to Salem for the rally.  It was unfortunately a small turn out, but we were featured in a news story on Channel 2 news.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

I know everyone wants to know how Amber is doing...and that is really the intent of this blog.  I will briefly say that Amber is doing well, recovering from her last ERCP and slowly being transitioned from IV TPN to G tube feeds.  We've had a very stressful day, and I'd like to call to all of Amber's followers and supporters to help us be a LOUD voice for all disabled children in OR.

Seattle

So yesterday we returned from a trip to Seattle for Amber to see the GI specialist and have an ERCP.  I'm not sure we learned anything about why Amber gets pancreatitis, but she got another stent in her pancreatic duct, so hopefully the pancreas will drain more effectively from here on out.  When they did the ERCP they were not able to get through the common pancreatic duct at all, it is completely blocked off.  The doctor says he's not sure why, but it's either plugged up with pancreatic "sludge" or scarred from all her previous bouts of pancreatitis.  Fortuna

Update

So...my home computer has crashed.  For now, I'm unable to update Amber's page from home.  Here's the rundown from the past two weeks.

Update on the last....(3 months, 6 months? what's it been?)

I know, it's been a really long time since I've updated.  Rarely do I get the opportunity to sit at the computer anymore.  Rest assured, Amber has been doing well.  There is much to update on! (it's been since February since I've blogged afterall!) I'll try to go in order....

Long overdue....

I know, it's been a long time since I've blogged about Amber, but life has us pretty busy these days!  We had a fantastic Christmas.  Amber and I traveled to Medford to visit my grandparents, sister and best friend.  We had a great weekend!  There weren't any other little kids at Christmas this year, so Amber wasn't as into the present opening as she has been in the past.  She was very content to read books with Grandma Cheryl and watch Dora the Explorer on her new DVD player.
